8. The Krafla Route (Leirhnjúkur - Hlíðarfjall - Reykjahlíð Village)

A trail leads from the southern part of the Leirhnjúkur circle to the village of Reykjahlíð. It crosses the flow of the lava since 1725-1729 and on to Mt. Hlíðarfjall along the Eldá river (lava river). This hike takes about 3-5 hours.
