The Good Friday Walk 2025

Mývatns Good Friday walk!
This year's walk will start from Sel Hotel Myvatn.
Many have been making their way to the Martyrs' Walk since 1993 when some friends decided that Good Friday was the only day of the year that was long enough to walk around the lake and since then it has become an annual event.
The walk is 36 kilometers and everyone goes at their own pace, walking, running or cycling.

Agenda:
08:30 - Meeting point is at Sel Hotel Myvatn Rev. Örnólfur sings Morguntíðir.

Reykjahlíðarkirkja church will be open where it will be possible to rest your bones and listen to Reverend Örnólf read the Passover psalms.
A car from Sel Hotel will follow the walkers and can hold extra clothes, shoes and light backpacks for people if required.
For those that endure the whole walk you will be greeted at Sel Hotel ( https://www.myvatn.is/ ) with their very own complimentary Mývatn öl beer and a free entrance ticket to the Nature Baths! Those that intend to walk/cycle the full round will have to register at the front desk in Sel Hotel Myvatn. We encourage everyone to take part at their own pace, enjoy the day and finish the full circle!
On the way it will be possible to stop at Dimmuborgir Guesthouse ( https://dimmuborgir.is/ ) where you can use the toilet and fill water bottles.
You can also stop for some refreshments at Berjaya Hotel Myvatn (https://www.icelandhotelcollectionbyberjaya.com/.../dekur... ), Daddy's Pizza ( https://www.vogartravelservice.com/ ) and the supermarket.
Everyone is welcome and it is free to attend.
